I distinctly remember being told when I was little that God gives us all special talents and gifts and somewhere down the road, you'll discover your gift and how to use it to make the world a better, brighter place.
It was a such a profound moment for me when I realized that creating through my photos, telling love stories for others, was my gift and by sharing it I could bring a little more happiness into the world. I think more than anything that's my purpose. To create happiness and share in that joy that becomes everlasting when it's frozen in time.
Making a difference for my clients, getting to know them, seeking out hidden beauty, cutting through the chaos, and capturing not only how something looked but how it FELT is my purpose.
I want my couples to feel valued, heard, and I want them to know that they are the top priority. I take such pride in putting clients at ease, taking the stress off their shoulders and watching it disappear to be replaced with excitement.
As a creative soul, photography was an extension of my already thriving love for painting and drawing from a young age.
I was very inspired by my Papa. He always had a film camera in his hand taking photos while birdwatching or of our family marshmallow roasts we used to have by the fire out underneath the old oak trees.
I still remember the excitement after we dropped off the rolls of film to be developed. I was so small when he passed away, and I treasure those old priceless photographs more than gold.
Fast forward, I grew up carrying a camera around to horse shows and chasing the perfect sunsets with my friends.
I was inspired to pursue photography as a profession after my own wedding in 2018. But it was the trip to Charleston to visit family with my camera in hand that ignited that pursuit. The rich history and dripping Spanish moss of the city moved me so deeply. I knew then that photography was what I was meant to pursue!
Fresh off my own wedding, I knew I could make a difference for people who appreciate love, art, creativity, and authentic connection through imagery.
Capturing love stories for others has been one of the biggest blessings of my life so far.
They say everything comes full circle, and I can't think of a more moving moment than recently when my mom found my Papa's dusty camera case and I started unwrapping the treasures within.
His well worn camera, his fingerprints on the lenses, rolls of film he never got to use, Winn-Dixie coupon clippings, and hand written notes about light.
I keep his camera close to remind me of where I came from. More than anything else, I hope I'm making my Papa proud by doing what I love.
